StoryCorps "The Last Viewing" (2014)

Both sons of Allen Hoe, a combat medic who served in Vietnam, joined the military. In January 2005, his oldest son, First Lt. Nainoa K. Hoe, died in combat in Iraq. On Memorial Day of that same year, Allen traveled to Washington where he had a chance encounter with a stranger that brought them both unforeseen comfort.
